Overview
SkillSignal automatically sends text message (SMS) reminders to workers when a certification is approaching its expiration date. By default, workers receive:
- A reminder 30 days before the certification expires
- A reminder on the day the certification expires
If a worker reports that they did not receive a certification expiration text message, there are two common reasons to investigate.
Troubleshooting Missing Certification Expiration Text Messages
Reason 1: The Worker Has Unsubscribed from Automated Text Messages
Workers can opt out of receiving automated text messages. If a worker has unsubscribed, they will not receive certification expiration reminders.
How to Re-subscribe
Ask the worker to send a text message with the word:
START
Send the message to:
513-952-8206
- The worker should receive an automated confirmation message indicating they have successfully re-subscribed to SkillSignal text notifications.
- Once re-subscribed, the worker will be eligible to receive future automated text reminders.
Reason 2: The Phone Number on the Worker Profile Is Not a Valid Mobile Number
Certification reminder text messages can only be delivered to mobile phone numbers.
Verification Steps
- Open the worker's profile.
- Review the phone number listed on the account.
- Confirm that the number is a valid mobile phone number capable of receiving SMS messages.
- If necessary, update the worker's profile with the correct mobile number.
Additional Notes
- Certification expiration reminders are sent automatically by the system.
- Workers must have an active mobile number and be subscribed to text notifications to receive these reminders.
- If both requirements are met and reminders are still not being received, escalate the issue for further investigation.
